Bike / Walk to School Together!
Best thing about attending a neighborhood school is that you can bike / walk there. This neighborhood is full of bicycle enthusiasts. Many Heights students and their parents regularly meet up at certain spots and ride together to school. One such place for forming a bike train is intersection of Dumont and Weathered at 7:25 a.m. If you know of another like site, let us know and we will publicize it here!

School Starts on August 22 at 7:50 a.m. This is a new start time, so adjust your schedule accordingly. The school day will end at 3:00 p.m.

Heights Families at National Parks
In honor of the 100th birthday of our National Parks, our librarian, Mrs. Nowaki, is putting up a bulletin board in the library with pictures of “Heights family” members visiting National Parks. She would love as many contributions as possible from families and staff. Please make sure people (you and/or your Heights kiddos) are in the pictures and not just landscapes. The pictures do not have to be recent. Pictures can be emailed to Stephanie.firstname.lastname@example.org or hand delivered to the office and they will put them in her box. Please submit by August 19th!
Attention Volunteers!! Don't forget to complete your background check on the RISD web site! You must complete a new one every year in order to volunteer at our school!
Gardening play date
It's a play date! It's gardening day! Our outside garden is in need of a good clean up so come help us straighten it out before the school starts! We are meeting on August 6th and August 20th from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Bring your tools and your kiddos and they can either help or play on the school playground while we work. At least one adult will supervise the kids while others work on the garden.
The period for elementary summer enrollment begins Tuesday, August 9. Space at many schools is limited, so parents who have not yet enrolled their children are strongly encouraged to enroll prior to the first day of school. Students and parents are also reminded that elementary schools day goes from 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m. this year.
First Day of School
The first day of school will be on August 22nd. Before classes begin, there will be a Sneak Peak on Friday, August 19th starting at 4pm, where your child can meet their new teacher, explore the school and purchase school supply packs. You will be notified which classroom your child will be assigned to in the week before the first day of school.
Summer Reading Program
Have you signed up for the Richardson Public Library's Summer Reading Club? Don't miss out on this opportunity to keep your brain active and earn entries into the library's raffle for prizes. Plus, once you turn in your initial list of 5 books read, the library will forward your name to Heights Elementary at the end of the summer. Mrs. Nowacki always rewards the summer readers with a treat during the school year!
