Heights Kindergarten Roundup is on March 5th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. This is one event you don’t want to miss! You’ll hear all about Heights, meet our fantastic teachers and learn all of the specifics you need to know about registering your students for their kindergarten year. Bring your Wee Wildcats - the kindergarten teachers have planned fun and educational activities to keep them entertained!
Parents of currently-enrolled students in grades K-11 can enroll their children online for the 2018-19 school year starting on February 26. Students new to RISD in 2018-19 will not be able to enroll online and should contact Heights Elementary for registration information.
A new online enrollment system, PowerSchool / InfoSnap, is being introduced this year and parents will no longer use Focus to enroll students. Parents of currently enrolled students will be sent a letter and email with information for re-enrolling online. Parents unable to enroll online may still enroll using paper forms.

We know that sending your child to Kindergarten can feel overwhelming and worrisome to kids and parents. To help ward off those worries, Heights PTA created a calendar of Wee Wildcats Events to familiarize prospective Heights families with our school and our community.
On February 26th from 1:45 - 2:30 p.m. Heights PTA welcomes you and your Wee Wildcat to tour the classrooms and meet our kindergarten teachers Mrs. Greenwood, Ms. Carranza, and Mr. Alonzo. They will also spend some time participating in activities in one of the kindergarten classrooms.

Did you know that William Shakespeare, the famous 16th century playwright, invented over 1700 new words, many of which are still in common use today? Our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students learned this and much more at an outstanding performance on Thursday morning in the school cafeteria by actors from Shakespeare Dallas. While performing scenes from Shakespeare's famous comedy, A Midsummer's Night Dream, the actors also helped demystify Shakespearean language by explain the meaning of words and expressions used and how to better understand the scenes thorough the actors' expressions, body language and motions.
All attending students were also provided with a letter exchangeable for a free season pass for them and an accompanying adult to any of the 2018 Shakespeare in the Park performances. Thank you Shakespeare Dallas for a fun and educational performance!
Once again, Heights PTA wants to celebrate our wonderful teachers and thank them for the good work they are doing. We are organizing "Mardi Gras Teacher Lunch" for our teachers on February 13th. To sign up and bring a dish, please Click Here>>

Feb 20 - Wear crazy hair / crazy socks and enjoy “Crazy for Kindness Celebration” before school
Feb 21 - Wear colorful clothing and expect a surprise when you arrive at school

Feb 23 - Dress like a hippie and write kind notes on a long paper chain
It’s National School Counseling Week, and we want to take a minute to say thank you to our wonderful counselor at Richardson Heights, Mrs. DuVall. She helps our children to focus on their academic, personal, social, and career development so they can lead successful lives. Be sure to thank her in person or by sending her a quick note of appreciation for all she does for our school.
Thank you, Mrs. DuVall!
Each classroom will be celebrating the Valentine's day in their own special way on February 16 at 2:00p.m. Please contact your student’s teacher or classroom room parent for more details on how you can help. Note that a background check is required to participate in the classroom.
On February 1st and 2nd, our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders spent time learning how various physical disabilities affect people and how they can appreciate these differences in each other with empathy and kindness. They got to see what it might be like to have dyslexia; autism; hearing, vision, or speech impairment; and difficulties with fine and gross motor skills.
