Navigating Screen Time by: Dawn Hallman

10/24/2018

Heights PTA invites all parents and grandparents to join a new workshop: “Navigating Screen Time with Kids and Families”: Monday, November 12th, 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the school library.   Child care, games, and pizza for the kids will be hosted at no cost in the cafeteria, so feel free to bring the whole family!

This workshop will be given by Dawn Hallman, Exec.Director of Dallas Association for Parent Education (D.A.P.E.). Dawn has a Masters in Education and is Adjunct Professor of Child Development at Eastfield College.  For more details, visit the website: www.dallasparentseducation.org.
Multiple screens are part of everyday life and Dawn will bring helpful ideas on successfully managing screen time.  Explore what happens in the growing brains of children, how screens affect family communication, and great ways to balance the helpfulness of technology with dangers that exist.  We look forward to sharing this exciting workshop with you!

Heights Community Campaign - FINAL WEEK

10/20/2018

FINAL WEEK - Thank you for participating in the Heights PTA Community Campaign, our yearly Fall fundraiser to raise much needed funds for PTA sponsored community and academic enrichment programs at our school. With your support, we have raised $9,300 and this money will go a long way toward financing important PTA program and Heights Enrichment Fund used by teachers for classroom needs. None of this would be possible without your support. If you haven't already, please consider donating and help us reach our goal of $10,000 by October 26th.

J.J. Pearce Pacesetters Annual Holiday Bazaar

10/10/2018

J.J. Pearce Pacesetters Annual Holiday Bazaar

The Pacesetters drill team of J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson will host its annual Holiday Bazaar, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 – Oct. 28, on the first floor of the school.  What started as a small garage sale over 30 years ago has grown to an event featuring well over 200 area vendors, offering handcrafted items, clothing, home décor, food gifts, jewelry, holiday decorations and much more.  The Pacesetter Holiday Bazaar welcomes over 6,000 shoppers through the doors.  The event also includes the Pacesetter Café featuring a variety of selections from area restaurants, a bake sale and a sweepstakes with more than 100 fabulous prizes.  It is the drill team’s only fundraiser.  Profits help defray the cost of dance training and choreography, uniforms, costumes, practice gear, props and travel.

Admission and parking are free.  Hours are Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, Oct. 28 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  For more information go to www.pacesetterbazaar.com or www.pearcepacesetters.com.  J.J. Pearce High School is located at 1600 N. Coit Road.  Due to construction at J.J Pearce High School, parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged.
