Reminder: Heights Elementary will host a school-wide Storybook Character Parade this Wednesday, October 31st. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book characters but please no violent / frightening costumes. All participating students need to bring the book they are representing.
On behalf of the Heights PTA and the students of Heights Elementary, we thank each and every one of you for your contributions towards the Heights Community Campaign - 2018 / 19 Donation Drive. With your help and enormous support, Heights PTA has surpassed its goal and raised $13,943! Your generosity will help finance important community and academic enrichment programs, recognize our teachers’ hard work, provide additional funds for our classrooms and much much more. We are grateful for our strong business community, our involved families, our supportive teachers and our wonderful school. Go Wildcats!
Heights PTA invites all parents and grandparents to join a new workshop: “Navigating Screen Time with Kids and Families”: Monday, November 12th, 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the school library. Child care, games, and pizza for the kids will be hosted at no cost in the cafeteria, so feel free to bring the whole family!
This workshop will be given by Dawn Hallman, Exec.Director of Dallas Association for Parent Education (D.A.P.E.). Dawn has a Masters in Education and is Adjunct Professor of Child Development at Eastfield College. For more details, visit the website: www.dallasparentseducation.org. Multiple screens are part of everyday life and Dawn will bring helpful ideas on successfully managing screen time. Explore what happens in the growing brains of children, how screens affect family communication, and great ways to balance the helpfulness of technology with dangers that exist. We look forward to sharing this exciting workshop with you! FINAL WEEK - Thank you for participating in the Heights PTA Community Campaign, our yearly Fall fundraiser to raise much needed funds for PTA sponsored community and academic enrichment programs at our school. With your support, we have raised $9,300 and this money will go a long way toward financing important PTA program and Heights Enrichment Fund used by teachers for classroom needs. None of this would be possible without your support. If you haven't already, please consider donating and help us reach our goal of $10,000 by October 26th.
